The country has a profusion of mineral deposits, including iron and manganese ores as well as mercury, titanium, and nickel. These reserves underpin heavy manufacturing in Ukraine. There are over 7 thousand identified deposits covering over 90 different mineral types, of which most are large enough to be of economic significance.
