What is culturalisation?

Culturalisation: different countries, regions and localities make different associations with and take different messages and understandings from certain words, colours, gestures, behavioural patterns, phrases and sentences. Adapting a translation to give the intended final effect may require the selection of suitable images, colours, metaphors etc.

Localisation: is a term used for translation plus the process of adapting the detail of the original text for a particular “locale” or target audience e.g. use of appropriate units of measurement, and numerical formats, reference to the appropriate regulations or technical standards, inclusion of appropriate contact details etc.

Internationalisation is the term given to the process of removing or neutralising any locale-specific elements from the original text, to simplify the process of translation into many languages.

Globalisation: is the term used to describe the process whereby the content and text is made suitable for all countries, regions, markets audiences etc. These texts tend to be in English and are neutral in content and style.
