PHP

(PHP Hypertext Preprocessor) is a scripting language used to create dynamic Web pages. With syntax from C, Java and Perl, PHP code is embedded within HTML pages for server side execution. It is commonly used to extract data out of a database and present it on the Web page. NT/2000 and Unix Web servers support the language, and it is widely used with the mSQL database. PHP was originally known as "Personal Home Page"

Portable Document Format (PDF)

Portable Document Format (PDF) is an open standard file format, proprietary to Adobe Systems, for representing two dimensional documents in a device independent and resolution independent format. Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a 2D document (and, with the advent of Acrobat 3D, embedded 3D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics that compose the document. Importantly, PDF files don't encode information that is specific to the application software, hardware, or operating system used to create or view the document. This feature ensures that a valid PDF will render exactly the same regardless of its origin or destination. PDF is also an open standard in the sense that anyone may create applications that read and write PDF files without having to pay royalties to Adobe Systems.

Professional general interpreter

Experienced interpreter with highly developed and broadly scoped skills and vocabulary, qualified for events such as shareholder meetings, exhibitions and presentations, product and service launches and conferences, and who provides a consecutive interpretation of the speaker's output from his language to that of the attendees with the same "other" language. Whereas translators generally translate text only into their native language, interpreters generally work in both directions when interpreting for both parties in dialogue during negotiations etc.

Professional translator

Professional translators are sometimes referred to as freelance translators: the terms are not exactly synonymous. The professional translator may work for himself/ herself or be employed in a corporate setting. There are no required qualification standards to presenting oneself as a translator however the term professional translator is regarded in this sector as some one who regards translation as their main source of income, and is qualified either academically or through accreditation by a professional translation institute. Total Language Solutions works with the worlds best professional translators in terms of their qualifications and skills, experience and expertise both in translation and their fields of specialism. We select the translators and reviewers with skills and expertise which match the particular requirements of each piece of work, in terms of subject-matter, target audience etc.

Proof-reading / editorial check

Every translation, under the qwerty word process of Total Language Solutions is checked and proofread. Not all translation companies include this in their pricing and as part of their standard translation process. For a translation of publication standard, the client should always have a proofed / edited (checked) target text. This is a requirement of the EU translation services standard. The first text translation cycle is from the source text to the target language and this is sent on to another independent equally experienced translator who reads the source and target text in parallel, so as to ensure the highest quality and accuracy, precise in the nuances and definitions.
